Online Meetings

Overcome is a supportive online community for men, where members come together to embrace Stoic philosophy through online group meetings. The primary goal of these meetings is to help participants build resilience, find camaraderie, and overcome life's challenges. The meetings are designed to be engaging, interactive, and inspiring, fostering a sense of brotherhood and self-improvement among members.

Meetings Structure

The meetings at Overcome follow a weekly schedule with four meetings, each focusing on different aspects of life. The four cardinal virtues of Stoicism (Wisdom, Courage, Justice, and Temperance) serve as the foundation for these discussions. Each week, Overcome will select one of these virtues to study and explore its application in the following subjects:

  1. Self (Mondays)
  2. Social (Wednesdays)
  3. Professional / Financial (Fridays)

Every meeting is 90 minutes long and takes place on the Google Meet platform.

Meeting Agenda

Each 90-minute meeting is broken down into three main segments:

  1. Introduction (10 minutes) The meeting begins with a brief introduction by the moderator, explaining the selected virtue and its relevance to the day's topic. Participants are also given an opportunity to introduce themselves and share any recent experiences related to the virtue under discussion.
  2. Discussion (60 minutes) The main part of the meeting is an open discussion where participants share their thoughts, insights, and experiences about the virtue and its application to the subject at hand. Members are encouraged to ask questions, offer advice, and engage in thought-provoking conversations that help everyone gain a deeper understanding of the virtue and its significance.
  3. Reflection and Closing (20 minutes) The meeting concludes with a period of reflection, where participants summarize their key takeaways and discuss any action steps they plan to implement in their lives based on the meeting's discussions. The moderator then wraps up the session by reiterating the importance of the virtue and its practical applications, and encourages members to continue practicing and reflecting on the virtue throughout the week.

Camaraderie-building Saturday Meetings

In addition to the three topic-focused meetings, Overcome holds a subject-free meeting every Saturday. This session is dedicated to building camaraderie among the members and fostering a sense of brotherhood. Participants can share their personal experiences, challenges, and victories, as well as engage in casual conversations that help build stronger connections within the community.

The camaraderie-building Saturday meetings follow a more informal structure and typically last for 90 minutes, allowing ample time for participants to get to know one another and share their journeys.
